Celebrated 56th Anniversary of India’s
Republic Day

FIA celebrated the
56th anniversary of India’s Republic Day by hosting the
‘Creative Indian Movie’ Dance Competition” by the most eminent
choreographers from tri-state area of NY, NJ, & CT at the Plainfield
High School in Plainfield, NJ on Feb. 11th, 2006.
The program started with an American National Anthem and a patriotic
Song followed by welcome address by the President Dr. Sudhir
Parikh. Tri-State area’s top most choreographers participated with
twenty one wonderful dance items from Bollywood. Two hundred sixty
four participants competed in three different categories. Despite
inclement whether, the School Auditorium was filled with
enthusiastic spectators and was amazed by the performances from
young and talented artists. Each participating artist was given a
participation trophy plus First, Second and Third prize trophies as
well as Best Choreography and Best Costume trophies were awarded to
the winning teams in each of the three categories. Mrs. Sudha
Shekhar was the coordinator of the program and Mr. Jagdish Patel,
Dr. Manoj Desai were the Chairman of the Republic Day celebration
committee. Ms. Sushmita Yeramilli and Ms. Pratima Padki did
remarkable job in Emceeing and well-qualified judges Ms. Suba Parmar,
Ms. Jayshree Patel, Mr. Yash Paul Soi, Mr. Bharat Jotwani, & Ms.
Hettle Patel did the challenging job for judging this very tough
competition.
Dr. Sudhir Parikh thanked his executive committee, Sponsors,
community leaders and the community at large for their support
during his presidency. and introduced the members of the new
executive committee for year 2006, Jayesh Patel (President),
Shobhana Patel (Exec.Vice President), Sudha Shekhar (Vice
President), Rajul Shah (Secretary), Jaswant Mody (Treasurer), and
Sharad Narvekar (Jt. Secretary). Mr. Jayesh Patel, incoming
president addressed the gathering with his eloquent speech and
expressed his priority in the
organization to impart knowledge and help in fields of Immigration,
Senior Citizens, Youth, education and co-ordination with other
national forums. The first International Gujarati Convention in a
big way was announced in the month of July and appeal to all member
organization for their active support and participation... Mr.
Ramesh Patel, Chairman of Silver Jubilee celebration, past President
of FIA and chairman of national organization, congratulated every
one for the successful Silver Jubilee of India Day parade and
praised the whole executive committee for their dedication and hard
work and appeal to all the member organization for their support to
make all the FIA events a great success. Mr. Chandrakant Patel,
Founding President of FIA Florida joined the celebration along with
Past Presidents of FIA, Mr. Albert Jasani, Chandrakant Trivedi, Yash
Paul Soi, The celebration ended with Dinner. The results of the
Creative Movie Dance competition are as follow.
