NEW JERSEY, April 3rd, 2006-
Yashvant P. Patel, founder of MATRI Inc., a non-profit
organization, announced its 13th Annual Gujarati Youth Matrimonial
Convention today. MATRI’ 06 in association with
www.GujaratiMatrimony.com will be hosted at Ramada Inn &
Conference Center, North Brunswick, NJ on July 15th, 2006
Matri has
established a strong goodwill in providing an opportunity for
Gujarati youth between 21 and 35 years of age, throughout the
United States, as well as Canada and England to find their life
partners at this unique convention. While the main focus is to
provide a platform for finding a life partner, Matri also
encourages the participants to make friends, business contacts and
associates.
“Though we are a
matrimonial forum, we do not force ideas of marriage but instead
encourage networking and meeting with people who share similar
ideas and principles, in a hope that it finalizes into a
marriage,” points Yashwant P. Patel and continues, “ It is our
belief that similarities in dharma, poshaak and khorak (religion,
dress and food) are necessary to create a successful marriage. As
Gujaratis it is our duty to therefore pave the way for our
children and give them a prosperous and happy life by honoring our
Gujarati traditions.” The philosophy behind Matri when it started,
explained Patel, “Was to aid a forum where Gujarati youth could
uphold their traditional values while searching for a life
partner, using more modern methods.” Patel also informed that each
Matri culminates in at-least 25% of its candidates getting married
or engaged.
Giving an overview
of the convention, Patel explained that the actual event begins
the evening before the day of convention with an informal
gathering. Registered participants involve themselves in various
ice breaking events, thus familiarizing themselves with one
another. The pre-Matri night is open to participants only and
Parents/Guardians are not admitted. Although the attendance is
optional, participants are encouraged to attend the pre-Matri
night. There will also be plenty of food, music to dance and a
chance to interact with participants. The dress code for the pre-Matri
night is business-casual or Indian traditional. Next day, the
participants meet each other formally, however, later informal
meetings are also encouraged. Followed by lunch, there is a
parents’ meeting at a separate location conducted by a senior
Matri representatives.
The convention is
being supported by VRAJ, BAPS, Jai Mandir, Hindu Mandir and other
Gujarati samaj organizations.
