Enjoying WiFi across Indian railway stations? Then you have a more good news here!

The Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the plan will come into implementation within
four-and-a-half years.

Indian Railways WiFi Services

“It is a more complicated technology subject. Giving WiFi in running trains requires investment… Towers need to be put and there have to be equipment inside trains. In this, we might have to bring in foreign technology and investors,” Goyal said in a statement.

The government is also planning to increase the WiFi services from the existing 5,150 railway stations to 6,500 stations by the end of next year.

It is noteworthy here that Google is also working on expansion of its ‘Google Stations’ program to more railway stations across the country.

The technology giant has begun this project in 2016 and has so far covered 400 stations as of 2018. Further, it plans to collaborate with BSNL and install free WiFi services to villages in Gujarat, Bihar and Maharashtra.
