Coffee exports from India continued to rise for the second consecutive year in 2019.

According to the Coffee Board, India exported 3.50 lakh tonnes coffee in 2019 compared to 3.48 lakh tonne in 2018.

Italy, Germany and Russia emerged as the top destinations for Indian coffee, by export destination.

Italy accounted for 72,267 tonne of Indian coffee exports, followed by Germany (37,175 tonne) and Russia (28,573 tonne).

Coffee Exports from India

By the variety exported,

  • India exports Robusta and Arabica varieties alongside instant coffee
  • Robusta coffee exports reported a 4.10 per cent rise to 1,86,360 tonne in 2019 compared to 1,79,004 tonne in 2018
  • Arabica exports declined 10.75 per cent to 47,341.82 tonne from 53,049 tonne in 2018
  • Even the instant coffee exports witnessed the downfall to 27,339 tonne in 2019 from 29,146 tonne in 2018

The coffee production is estimated as slightly higher at 3,19,500 tonne for the 2018-19 crop year (October-September).
