Lockdown 4.0 has begun India, but the number of Covid-19 positive cases continue to rise in the country.

With 5,242 new positive cases, India registered the most significant single-day rise in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of positive cases has crossed the 96,300 mark, and 3,040 have reportedly died of the virus.

Surprisingly, this sudden single-day jump has been reported a day after the government called for a #Lockdown4.0 starting from May 18, 2020.

As of May 18, 2020, the recovery rate is 38.29 percent, with 37,258 people recovered.

Virus Cases India

Maharashtra is leading with the highest number of cases crossing the 33,000 mark and 2,347 in the last 24 hours.

In Delhi, the number of positive cases touched the 10,000 mark, with 721 in the last 24 hours.

Tamil Nadu saw more than 600 cases in the last 24 hours, crossing 11,000 mark in overall positive cases.

With a single vegetable market in Chennai alone accounted for 2,360 cases and 174 foreign returnees also tested positive.

Meanwhile, 24 passengers who arrived at Indore airport have been tested positive. With this, the number of positive cases in Madhya Pradesh touched 4,977 and 248 people died.

Various other states like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, among others, are witnessing a rise in cases, despite the lockdown measures.

World Covid-19

Globally, Coronavirus infection has spread to more than 47 lakh people to date, and more than 3 lakh have died. The US alone has reported 90,000 deaths.
