IndianEra > Coronavirus > COVID-19 India: Recoveries Outpace Active Cases, Centre’s Special Teams To States!

India’s COVID-19 positive cases are growing rapidly and have touched 287,000 mark.

Around 8,102 Indians have succumbed to COVID-19 infection so far.

India has been witnessing more than 9000 cases per day consistently for a week and has touched a new single-day high at 10,000 mark a day earlier.

The number of cases has been rising after the COVID-19 Unlock 1.0 began!

Amid this scenario, the Union Health Ministry offers little hope to the citizens of India.

For the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak began, India’s number of recovery cases exceeded that of active cases on June 10, 2020.

While the number of active cases stands at 137,927, the number of recovered reached 141,006.

“Thus, 48.9 percent of the patients have recovered so far,” the Health Ministry said.

According to Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Professor in the Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, 80 percent of COVID-19 cases might have a mild infection and are most likely for 100 percent recovery.

“This should provide hope to the people of India at large who are having a mortal fear of the disease. But then this should not make them complacent, and people should follow social distancing and sanitization guidelines,” says Dr. Gupta.

There was a race between active and recovered cases over the last week.

On average, around 4,529 cases added to the overall active cases number per day in the last week. In comparison, recoveries were 5,397 cases per day.

The Low Case Fatality Rate (LCFR) contributed to the rise of recoveries over active cases.

As per sources, there has been a steady rise in the number of active cases since 2.8 percent of infected people died from the May end.

Meanwhile, in the wake of rising cases, the Center has decided to send special teams to of Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru to track the COVID-19 scenario.

These teams will help the state departments and local health officials in reviewing public health measures to handle containment and management of COVID-19.
