Meanwhile, with the current lockdown phase ending in two days, Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly met the PM Modi to discuss the possibility of extending the lockdown beyond May 31, 2020.

In another update, the Supreme Court ordered the Indian Railways to allow special ‘Shramik’ trains, if requested by the state governments, for easy movement of migrant workers.

The Court said migrants shouldn’t be asked to pay fares and should be provided food and water at no cost.

The apex court’s decision came as a relief to the ongoing conflict between the Centre and a few state governments over the migrants’ movement.
