India’s COVID-19 situation has been presenting a horrifying scenario for the last two weeks.

The country reported 9,000 cases per day for the fifth consecutive day, taking the total positive cases number to more than 2.5 lakhs.

India currently has 127,192 active cases, 7,208 deaths, and 123,912 cases have recovered.

With such a scenario around, India has called for reopening of all malls and other public places, including places of religious significance, starting June 08, 2020.

India is currently the fifth worst-hit nation, globally.

Maharashtra Ahead of China!

Maharashtra, the worst-affected state, crossed China for Covid-19 positive cases with 85,975 cases so far. While China has 84,191 positive cases.

Meanwhile, Delhi has also reopened its public places and people were seen thronging at places of religious worship.

Major Indian cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai are already reporting traffic jams.

79 Doctors Test Positive in Hyderabad

Doctors Test Positive

79 government doctors in Hyderabad tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks period, says a Resident Doctors Association.

Health workers and academia from top universities and medical colleges are blaming the Telangana Government of exposing these doctors to COVID-19 without proper testing in place.

They said the government has not been revealing the exact testing figures.

“Telangana High Court has directed the state government to submit testing figures, but it has not done so far. We will file a contempt petition against the Telangana Government. As the state has not conducted enough tests, it is not revealing the figures,” said Professor P L Vishweshwara Rao.

The city also reported the country’s first journalist death due to COVID-19, yesterday.

New Zealand has reportedly announced that it is now coronavirus-free.

The country’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that they have eliminated the virus and are lifting all COVID-19 restrictions starting June 09, 2020.

Overall, there are 7 million positive cases and 4 lakh deaths globally, with the US, Brazil, Russia, UK and India as top five of the global list.
