Bollywood and COVID-19: Many Names

Bollywood

Generally thought to be under intense hygiene conditions, many Indian celebrities are gradually falling prey to the COVID-19 infection.

That began with top star ‘Big B’ Amitabh Bachchan.

Yes! A 77-year-old Amitabh and his son Abhishek Bachchan tested positive for COVID-19 on July 11, 2020 at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital.

That did not stop there!

Later, Abhishek’s family, including his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and young daughter too tested positive.

“Earlier today, both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to the hospital. We have informed all the required authorities, and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic,” Abhishek said in a tweet.

All these four are currently under home quarantine.

With this, Twitter became flooded with ‘get well soon’ tweets from Big B’s 13 million followers, fans, and celebrities, who wished for early recovery of the family.

“It shall not be possible for me to acknowledge and respond to all the prayers and wishes expressed by them that have shown concern towards Abhishek, Aishwarya, Aaradhya, and me. I put my hands together and say. Thank you for your eternal love and affection,” Amitabh said in a tweet.

Surprisingly, Amitabh’s wife Jaya Bachchan tested negative for

COVID-19. “The rest of the family, including my mother, have tested negative,” Abhishek added.

With this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed the four bungalows of the Bachchan’s family, and 30 member staff working in these bungalows were tested for COVID-10. The results are awaited.

Meanwhile, BMC also sealed Bollywood actress Rekha’s bungalow after one of her staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor and Aamir Khan also sealed their bungalows for the same reason.

In June 2020, seven members in Aamir Khan’s staff, including two bodyguards and a cook, tested positive for the virus.

Various other celebrity families have similar stories.

Anupam Kher Family

In another update, Anupam Kher’s mother, brother Raju Kher and his wife, niece, have been tested mildly-positive for COVID-19.

“This is to inform all that my mother Dulari, is found COVID positive (Mildly). We have admitted her into Kokilaben Hospital. My brother, bhabhi & niece in spite of being careful, have also tested mildly positive. I got myself tested as well & I have tested negative. @mybmc is informed.!,” Anupam Kher confirmed in a tweet.

The late music composer Wajid Khan, who died on June 01, 2020, due to cardiac arrest, was undergoing COVID-19 treatment before death.

Veteran actor Kiran Kumar had also tested positive on May 24, 2020. “I’m asymptomatic positive. I had got myself tested on May 14, and it turned out I had coronavirus,” says the actor.

‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ and ‘Bhaag Johnny’ fame actress Zoa Morani was also diagnosed for COVID-19 and tested positive.

The Morani family was the first in Bollywood to test positive for COVID-19, starting with the renowned producer Karim Morani.

‘Baby Doll’ singer Kanika Kapoor was the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive after she arrived in UP from London.

Don’t know how many big names would add to the list in the future. But, undoubtedly, the COVID-19 virus is trying to leave no stone unturned in India.
