In a fresh announcement, Odisha has announced about extending its lockdown till April 30, 2020.

With this announcement, Odisha emerged as the first state to extend the period while the Center is still thinking on that.

“Odisha Cabinet headed by CM @Naveen_Odisha decided to extend the state lockdown till April 30th & recommended Union Government to extend the national lockdown till then. CM requested the GoI not to start train & air services during the lockdown. #OdishaFightsCorona,” Odisha CMO said in a tweet.

The state government said the educational institutions will be off until June 17, 2020.

“At this crucial juncture, one has to decide between protecting lives of people and economic activity. The state cabinet, which met today, decided that saving the lives of our people is the topmost priority at this juncture,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on April 09, 2020.

While states like Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, among others expressed a similar thought earlier, they haven’t made any official announcements so far.
