COVID-19 Scenario India: Center Unlocks, State Locks!

Extension of Lockdown

The country’s COVID-19 scenario is taking rapid turns, with the total cases touching 5.68 lakhs and 16,919 deaths.

Around 3.35 lakh people have recovered.

With the cases fast-spreading, health authorities are making necessary efforts to control the pandemic.

Various health departments and hospitals across the country are working round the clock to ensure the safety of the COVID-19 infected people.

While the government is busy procuring necessary medical equipment and vaccine developments are also underway across many laboratories.

Now, the question is about prolonging ‘Lockdown’ or ‘Unlock’!

While the cases are continuously rising on one end, the Centre and states have different opinions on lockdown and unlock rules.

The Center has already begun the Unlock strategy and is now gearing up for Unlock 2.0 with a fresh set of guidelines from July 01, 2020.

But the states are acting otherwise!

With the cases rising at an unprecedented rate, many states are considering extension or re-imposing of lockdown measures to control the spread.

The worst-hit state Maharashtra, has already announced the extension of lockdown until July 31, 2020, without any further relaxations.

The state’s previous lockdown announced in March 2020 is ending today.

While, Delhi and Karnataka are against returning to lockdown again.
