The disease prevalence in India is low, says the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) citing the test criteria.
According to a ICMR official, the investigations report only 1 positive case for every 24 tests.
This shows less prevalence of the disease spread in India compared to Italy and Japan.
However, ICMR later contradicted with its statement saying population-based testing may not be the right approach to decide the prevalence of the virus.
