Adding to the Covid0-19 worries, another danger is hitting India’s western coast today!

Rare and the new ‘Cyclone Nisarga’ is expected to make landfall on June 03, 2020, in Mumbai, warned the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to IMD, the metropolis will see a modest rainfall in most parts and heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas in the coming 24 hours.

Mumbai and its metropolitan areas reported rainfall yesterday evening, which became heavier by late night.

A massive storm is expected in Alibaug of Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

According to the weather bureau, Cyclone Nisarga remains centered over the east-central Arabian Sea, around 280 km west-northwest of Panjim in Goa, 250 km south-southwest of Mumbai, 200 km south-southwest of Alibagh in Maharashtra and 460 km south-southwest of Gujarat’s Surat.

The department expects this to be a ‘Severe Cyclonic Storm’ during the next 06 hours.

With a sustained wind speed of 100-110 kmph, the storm is most likely to move north-northeastwards and go beyond north Maharashtra to the adjoining south Gujarat coast between Harihareshwar and Daman, during the afternoon.

Covid Patients

Ahead of its first cyclone in the last 70 years, Mumbai is getting prepared to safeguard Covid-19 patients from the Cyclone Nisarga.

Coronavirus patients are also part of around 100,000 people being moved to safe temporary shelters.

Around 150 Covid-19 patients have been evacuated from a recently-built field hospital to a new temporary facility.
