IndianEra > Coronavirus > Worst-case Scenario of ‘No Covid-19 Vaccine At All’: Experts

Everyone across the world is now eagerly waiting for the release of COVID-19 vaccine!

But here is a new alarming news that speaks about the worst-case scenario about the vaccine for Coronavirus.

In its recent edition, CNN has written that there could be the worst-case scenario that ‘no vaccine is ever developed’.

“Testing and physical tracing will become part of our lives in the short term, but in many countries, an abrupt instruction to self-isolate could come at any time. Treatments may be developed — but outbreaks of the disease could still occur each year, and the global death toll would continue to tick upwards,” CNN said in its online publication.

The report quoted Dr. David Nabarro, a special envoy on WHO for Covid-19, as stating there are some viruses that don’t have vaccines yet.

Dr. David Nabarro

He expressed doubts if there would be a vaccine at all for COVID-19 and in case it exists, if that would pass all tests of safety and efficacy.

In this regard, he makes a horrifying statement that the societies across the world may have to start moving on with the virus possibly around.

“It’s absolutely essential that all societies everywhere get themselves into a position where they are able to defend against the coronavirus as a constant threat, and to be able to go about social life and economic activity with the virus in our midst,” says Dr. David Nabarro.

Meanwhile, there are also experts from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious diseases who continue to expect the arrival of COVID-19 virus in 12-18 months period.

Dr. Peter Hotez

However, Dr. Peter Hotez, Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, says, “We’ve never accelerated a vaccine in a year to 18 months.”

Citing the possibility case, he says that would be a heroic achievement if we can.

In this regard, he says we need to have plan A and B as well to deal with the situation.
