The coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the world as countries see a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has alerted about a fresh wave of coronavirus pandemic as the global infection tally exceeded 49 million.

The total global cases increased by a record of nearly 700,000 in the last 24 hours, taking the total infections to 49,088,415. The world has suffered the highest single-day deaths for the second time this week, with 9,056 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. So far, 1,240,618 people have lost their lives due to the pandemic.

Currently, there are 12,824,757 active cases and 35,023,040 recovered cases across the world.

US Records Highest 120,276 Cases on Thursday!

The United States has again recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases than any country throughout the pandemic, with 120,276 infections confirmed on November 6, 2020.

The country also reported over 1,000 COVID-19 deaths for the fourth time this week, with 1,200 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

Today, the COVID-19 caseload in the US reached 9,926,637, while the death toll stood at 241,026. Currently, there are 3,344,007 active cases and 6,341,604 recovered cases in the country.

England Enters Second COVID-19 Lockdown!

On Thursday, England entered the second nation-wide lockdown for four weeks to prevent the rising number of cases and deaths from the virus. UK has the biggest official death toll in Europe from COVID-19, and it is grappling with over 20,000 new cases a day.

There is a 200 GBP fine for each lockdown breach, which doubles for every offense up to a maximum of 6,400 GBP, and organizers of large gatherings face a 10,000 GBP fine.

Greece to Enter 2nd Nation-wide Lockdown Tomorrow!

On Thursday, Greece ordered the second nation-wide lockdown for three weeks as coronavirus cases continue to surge in the country. Under the new restrictions, which will take effect from Saturday, the retail businesses will be shut except supermarkets, healthcare services, and pharmacies. Restaurants, cafes, bars, theatres, museums, schools, and gyms will be closed.

Meanwhile, India has reported 47,622 new positive cases and 675 new deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the COVID-19 caseload to 8,411,724 and death tally to 125,029.

So far, 7,765,966 have recovered successfully from the contagion, while 520,729 are undergoing treatment across the country.
