IndianEra > News > After Brazil, Twitter Tests ‘Fleets’ Feature For India!

To those uncomfortable with forever visibility of their public tweets, Twitter is coming up with a new feature similar to ‘Instagram stories’.

The social media giant is testing ‘Fleets’ feature for its Indian user base.

The posts made using this feature will vanish in 24 hours automatically, like in WhatsApp status and Instagram stories.

They will not have likes, retweets, or public comments.

India is reportedly the second country after Brazil to get the ‘Twitter Fleets’ feature.

Similar to Tweets, Fleets has text as the top priority and also allows photo, video sharing.

A reply to a Fleet can be made by tapping on it to send a Direct Message (DM) or an emoji, and further conversation can be continued there.

Your followers get to see your Fleets on the top of their home timeline. Fleets are also visible to those who see your full profile.

Response to your Fleets is open to everyone if you have an open DM option. Whereas, if you have restricted your profile access, your Fleets will be visible only to your followers.

“Some people tell us that they’re uncomfortable to tweet because tweets are public, feel permanent, and have public counts (Retweets and Likes). We want to make it possible for people to have conversations in new ways with less pressure and more control beyond tweets and Direct Messages,” says Twitter’s group product manager Mo Al Adham.

Adham explains that the Fleets feature will be available for all iOS and Android users in the coming days in the form of updated versions.
