Growing emissions and the resultant demand for eco-friendly automotives are the most happening things, globally.

Now, India is also in the race!

In line with the country’s development agenda supported by the Clean India campaigns, the Modi Government has been pitching for eco-friendly vehicles to hit the nation in the years to come.

With the government eyeing 2023 as the target for the full-fledged Electric Vehicles (EV) adoption across the country, leading global players in the respective industry are coming forward to support the drive.

In one such announcement, France-based Dassault Systemes announced its willingness to contribute to the EV ecosystem in India.

“We are aligned with the country’s mission for a sustainable and green mobility landscape. EVs are certainly a way forward and we are geared up to address the EV requirements with our portfolio of industry solution experiences based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to address each of the segments — OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), suppliers and startups in the automotive industry,” Samson Khaou, Managing Director, India, Dassault Systemes, said in a statement.

“Our customers are transforming their business models to provide electric and autonomous vehicles and that may not necessarily be cars. It can be a combination of cars and scooters. We are providing these industries with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to innovate and design the innovation of the vehicle as well as the plant,” says Florence Verzelen, Executive Vice President (Industry Marketing) of the Global Affairs and Communication, Dassault Systemes.

Terming India as the ‘interesting market’, Florence Verzelen, Executive Vice President (Industry Marketing) of the Global Affairs and Communication, Dassault Systemes, said India is thinking on lines of innovation and is on path to trying new disruptive ways.

Dassault Systemes is known for its 3DEXPERIENCE platform along with simulation platforms, apps and other industry solutions.

The Way Forward

Eco-friendly Electric Vehicles

Dassault announced a partnership with Mahindra Electric Mobility. Under this partnership, Dassault’s SIMULIA applications will help Mahindra in digital simulation to its existing line-up of EV models.

Besides, the 3DExperience major is also collaborating with local start-ups and firms to drive innovation in the country’s energy sector.

“A few days ago in Bengaluru, a start-up called Log9 Materials showcased leverages graphene nanotechnology for the development of enhanced and commercially viable aluminum-air catteries which would revolutionize the energy sector,” informed Verzelen.

Apart from EV makers, the French company is also holding discussions with public and private sector firms in marine, offshore and industrial equipment and energy industries.

Besides, the company is also planning to launch more innovation centers in India.

“We have more innovation centers in India than in Europe and we are super interested in opening more. We definitely have plans for that. I hope the next time I come to India, I can formally announce the opening of a new center,” Verzelen added.

Considering the demand, the company is targeting at opening more R&D centers in the country.

“We are very selective about our R&D centers. We have no R&D center in China and have limited resources in Singapore. Apart for resources in Japan and the US, we have a huge center in France. India is the country that we look at when it comes to R&D,” she added.
