After India, US, AUS Plan ‘Ban on Chinese Apps’

We have earlier reported that more nations are joining India in its fight against China.

Towards this end, the US, Australia, Japan, and the EU have already voiced their concerns around China.

India made the beginning with the ban on 59 Chinese apps, and days after, the US and Australia are now getting ready to ban Chinese-owned apps.

Hours ago, the US Secretary of State Pompeo said the US Government is considering a ban on Chinese social media apps.

“I don’t want to get out in front of the President [Donald Trump], but it’s something we’re looking at,” said Pompeo, confirming that the US administration is taking this ‘very seriously’.

The Australian Government is also reportedly receiving many local calls to ban TikTok and other Chinese apps.

A Federal MP in Australia is reportedly moving to place a request for TikTok ban on lines of ‘Foreign Interference through Social Media’.

They are concerned that these Chinese apps are sharing user data with the Chinese Government.

“It might be dressed differently, but it’s the same beast,” reads the MP’s statement.

Meanwhile, amid the rising opposition at the global level, TikTok’s head team is considering different strategies and is planning to exit the Hong Kong market in a few days.
