IndianEra > Coronavirus > Fight Covid-19: India Proposes Online Platform for SAARC Group

India has called on the SAARC group to come forward to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Indian Government proposed a common online platform for all SAARC nations to share best practices and measures against COVID-19.

India proposed this idea in a video conference call with senior health officials of SAARC nations on March 26, 2020.

“India proposed a shared electronic platform for all SAARC nations to share and exchange information, knowledge, expertise and best practices for jointly combatting the coronavirus pandemic,” the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry further informed that a considerable amount of work was already done in this regard, which would be helpful in carrying out further collaboration such as training emergency personnel, among others.

Till the platform is operational, health experts of all SAARC nations will come forward to collaborate on email or WhatsApp for exchange of information on a real-time basis.

Coronavirus infected cases in India have reached 730, with the addition of 30 new cases, and a total of 17 deaths have been reported till date.
