In a move backing India, the US blocked a Pakistan’s proposal that named an Indian national Venu Madhav Dongara, a ‘terrorist’.

The US formally informed its decision to all UNSC nations on June 19, 2020.

Venu Madhav Dongara is one of the four Indian nationals that Pakistan linked to the terror attacks on its territory, The four Indians work with a construction company in Afghanistan.

In line with this, Pakistan has reportedly made efforts at UNSC to get Dongara named as a ‘global terrorist’, with the help of China.

However, the US rejected and terminated the proposal formally before the UNSC 1267 sanctions committee.

The US has been waiting for Pakistan’s evidence behind this proposal since February 2020.

Now, Pakistan will need to put a new proposal if it wants to proceed with the allegation.

“We do hope Pakistan will learn a lesson from this and not insist ban on other Indian nationals it has falsely linked with terrorism,” said an Indian official.

Flight

In another latest update, the US Government restricted charter flights from India on the grounds of rules’ violation.

The US reported that Indian flights adopted ‘unfair and discriminatory practices’ by violating aviation treaty rules between the two countries.

While the US airlines doing the same were restricted in India, said the department, adding that this “creates a competitive disadvantage for US carriers”.
