However, a few states reported a rise in the single-day count with 2,170 cases in Tamil Nadu, followed by Telangana (872), Kerala (138), Nagaland (69) and Manipur (57).

Maha, TN Report Continued Rise!

Maharashtra continued to report rise with around 3,721 cases in the last 24 hours, and the overall number reached 135,796.

The state reported 3,000-mark daily count for six consecutive days, even after claiming a 3 percent drop in the weekly rise of cases.

While the state’s death toll is currently at 6,283, experts say that there are flaws in death reporting.

For instance, Mumbai had 66 deaths in the last 24 hours. But the authorities reported only 20 and claimed that the rest happened before June 19, 2020.

Meanwhile, Delhi has been reporting 3,000+ cases for the past few days and saw 2,909 in the last 24 hours.

With the virus spreading to all districts, Tamil Nadu reported its highest-ever single-day rise with 2,170 cases on June 22, 2020.

Now, the state’s overall COVID-19 positive count is 62,087, and 794 people died.

Chennai continues to be the worst-affected with 1,487 new cases, followed by Madurai.

Doubts Over Long-term Immunity

A new Chinese study said the levels of antibody in COVID-19 recovered patients declined sharply in 2-3 months after infection.

This is raising doubts over the longevity of immune power against COVID-19.

The research by Chongqing University, published in Nature Medicine journal on June 18, 2020, recommends prolonged social distancing measures.

Meanwhile, the discussions around the COVID-19 vaccine are still underway, and the full-fledged one is expected only by this year-end.
