The number of COVID-19 cases are growing in India rapidly despite the strict lockdown and other safety measures.

As per the latest figures, the number of coronavirus positive cases in India has crossed 9000 mark (9,240) and the death toll crossed 300 mark (332).

In the last 24 hours alone, the country has reported a sudden rise of 790 positive cases and 35 deaths.

Maharashtra continues to be the top with maximum number of cases at 1,982, followed by Delhi (1,154) and Tamil Nadu (1, 052), among others.

Agra in UP emerges as the one of the biggest hot spots for Coronavirus, with 30 new cases reported recently.

Amid this horrifying situation, some state governments including Odisha, Maharashtra, Punjab and Telangana have already announced the extension of their lockdown period by another 2 weeks until April 30, 2020.

It is believed that the Center has reportedly given the respective state governments the choice to decide on the lockdown extension. While the decision on the nationwide lockdown is expected today.
