Due to Coronavirus, 40% of dine-out restaurants might go out of business

Zomato and Dineout

As the COVID pandemic continues to stay a threat across the majority of the country, the food business has taken a significant hit, with nearly 40% of restaurants predicted to go out of business.

As per a report developed by Zomato, a forerunner in the online food delivery business, 10% of the dine-out restaurants across the country have closed, and 30 percent run the risk of not opening again.

With the hospitality sector taking a major hit during the pandemic, dine-out restaurants have suffered the most significant loss due to the lockdown and virus spread.

To combat this situation, a large segment of dine-out restaurants are offering home delivery and take away options to keep their business functional.

While Zomato mentions that online deliveries will subsequently rise in the upcoming two to three months, but restaurants offering purely dining experience may not stabilize even in a post-pandemic scenario.
