Did you ever heard of a person becoming a country’s Prime Minister in 30s? Then this is the story for you!

Sanna Marin (34) has been chosen for the top post in Finland and set to be sworn in as Finland’s PM later in this week.

This makes Ms Sanna the world’s youngest PM, followed by New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern (39) and Ukrainian premier Oleksiy Honcharuk (35).

Ms Sanna was serving as the Transport Minister of Finland when she was picked up the Social Democratic party for the new post in place of Antti Tinne.

Now, she will lead the center-left coalition of four parties, which are also headed by women aged below 35 years.

She will also be the first female Prime Minister in the Nordic region.

Ms Sanna hails from the Rainbow Family, a counter-culture group formed in 1970s. She was residing in a rented house along with her mother and her mother’s female partner.

Ms Sanna headed the Tampere city administration at the age of 27 and moved on to become an MP in 2015. She has been serving as the Transport Minister since June 2019.

She is the mother of a 22-month-old kid.

Ms Sanna journey to the PM post is coming at a time when the gender equality is still a matter of big debate in Finland.

“I have never thought about my age or gender. I think of the reasons I got into politics and those things for which we have won the trust of the electorate,” she said in a statement.

The country had two short-listed female PMs in the last century and younger women have always been in good number in Finnish politics.
