India’s reputed varsities have always been at their best in delivering candidates of high caliber since the past.
Now, the QS India University Rankings 2020 placed IIT Bombay at the top position among the list of varsities across the country.
The rankings were based on the factors such as academic reputation, citations per paper, international faculty, international students, faculty staff with PhD and employer reputation, among others.
IIT-Bombay, IISC-Bangalore and IIT-Delhi secured the top three positions for all these categories, followed by IIT-Madras, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Roorkee and IIT-Guwahati, among others.
Besides IITs at the central level, the University of Delhi (DU) and University of Hyderabad (UoH) stood in the 7th and 8th positions, followed by others including Calcutta University (CU) and Jadavpur University, in the state-level university rankings.
“We have topped among the state universities, just a few notches below the central higher educational institutions, including IITs and IISC,” CU Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakrabarty Banerjee said.
