The Maharashtra State Prosecution made some shocking revelations in its report on the controversial Elgar Parishad case.

In its draft changes to the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) court, the department said all the 19 accused in the case were making assassination plans on the Prime Minister Modi.

They were reportedly making plans to execute the same way the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was killed in roadshows.

Besides, they have also been brainstorming on ways to wage a war against the country and engage in acts of terrorism.

The draft totally included 16 charges including 8 each under UAPA and IPC sections.

All the 19, “[who are] active members of banned terrorist organisation/association (CPI Maoist) and its frontal organization, conspired to wage a war against the (central and state) government. conspired to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the lines of Raji Gandhi during his road shows….,” reads a statement from the draft.

Besides, they were also making demands for organizing Rs. 8 crore for annual supply of sophisticated weapons with 4,00,000 rounds, along with other ammunition through designated supply from Manipur and Nepal.

These 19 are those accused of various crimes part of the Elgar Parishad event held in Pune on December 31, 2017, which CPI-M had funded to overthrow the government.

The provocative statements at this event added to the rise of caste clashes at Koregaon Bhima on January 1, 2018.

These 19 accused include 9 activists (academics and writers), 5 members of Kabir Kala Manch and 5 underground Maoists (absconding).

Of these, the police have so arrested 9 activists and have filed chargesheets against them along with the alleged Maoist operatives.

According to the draft, the Elgar Parishad was part of the conspiracy by the accused to create social unrest, provoke violence, organize funds and recruit cadres for terror activities.
