The number of Covid-19 positive cases in India increased further to 33,336 and the deaths have crossed 1,080.

While the number of active cases has been reported as 23,746, 8,508 people have recovered.

The total cases also include 111 foreign nationals, informed the Health Ministry.

Maharashtra continues to in the top for highest positive cases close to 10,000 mark.

Of the 66 deaths reported in last 24 hours since yesterday evening, Maharashtra alone reported 32 casualties, followed by 16 from Gujarat and 10 from Madhya Pradesh, 3 from UP, 2 each from Tamil Nadu and Delhi, and 1 from Karnataka.

Meanwhile, in a statement on April 29, 2020, the government issued directives to allow movement of migrants to their home states by bus services.

“New guidelines to fight #COVID19 will come into effect from 4th May, which shall give considerable relaxations to many districts. Details regarding this shall be communicated in the days to come,” the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Imports from China Take Hit

Importing Raw Materials

Meanwhile, various industry manufacturers are eyeing at alternatives to China for importing raw materials under the strategy ‘China Plus One’.

Various Indian industries especially consumer durables, auto components, electronics and pharma, among others are heavily dependent on China for their necessary equipment.

India’s annual merchandise imports from China are worth USD 70 million.

In a supporting factor, the last Rajya Sabha, the Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said the value and quantity of imports from China has decreased by 64 percent and 57 percent, respectively.
