Coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in India are growing gradually and have reached 62 as of March 11, 2020, say the state authorities.

Around 14 new cases have been identified with 8 in Kerala, and 3 each in Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The Health Ministry has already created high-alert and also called for immediate setting up of quarantine centers and isolation wards across the country.

In its latest measure, the Ministry informed about its first-ever usage of a drug, which is basically a combination of two drugs used for treating HIV.

The Drug Controller General of India has reportedly approved the ‘restricted use’ of the combination of second-line HIV drugs, Lopinavir and Ritonavir, for treating coronavirus.

In addition, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued directives seeking COVID-19 negative certificates from their destination labs, for arrivals from Italy and South Korea.

Meanwhile, the British MP and Minister in the Health Department has been tested
COVID-19 positive.

“I can confirm I have tested positive for coronavirus… and have been self-isolating at home,” the MP Nadine Dorries said in a statement.

Turkey Confirms its 1st Corona case

Turkey has also confirmed its first COVID-19 case detected in a man who returned from Europe.

“The test of a patient suspected of carrying the coronavirus returned positive,” says the Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

Italy Reports Highest Single-day Corona Deaths

Italy reported 168 deaths due to coronavirus on March 10, 2020 alone, recording the highest single-day death toll till date.

With this, the number of deaths outside China touched 1000.

Italy’s total deaths due to COVID-19 stands at 631 and over 10,000 got infected in two weeks.
