IndianEra > Government > COVID-19 India: China Plans Chinese Evacuation from India

The war of words between India and China is advancing beyond the border fights.

In the wake of rising COVID-19 positive cases, the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi issued a notice ‘for the evacuation of all Chinese from India’.

The notice said all Chinese students, tourists, businessmen, and others stuck in India would be allowed to fly back to China in special flights.

Special Flight

This includes Chinese who have come to India part of Buddhist religious circuit pilgrimage, those practicing yoga, among others.

Those willing to fly back must register their names with the Embassy by May 27, 2020 morning.

However, the places of pickup haven’t been published yet.

“Under the unified arrangement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant departments, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in India will assist students, tourists, and temporary businessmen in India who have difficulties and are in urgent need of returning home to take temporary flights back to China,” the notice said.

Fly Subject to Conditions

Cold, Fever, and Cough Symptom

The notice also makes it mandatory for those with cold, fever, and cough symptoms to not fly until 14 days.

Close contacts of Covid-19 positive cases with body temperatures exceeding 37.3 degrees will also be denied the travel.

“Once a passenger who conceals his illness and contact history or finds that he has taken antipyretics and other inhibitory drugs during quarantine inspection is found, he will be held liable for the crime of endangering public safety,” the notice added.

It is noteworthy that India had also evacuated more than 700 Indians from China’s Hubei province and Wuhan at the initial stages of the Covid-19 outbreak.
